Marketing

Marketing is the activities and processes performed by a business or organization to offer, showcase, advertise, sell and deliver products or services to customers. It is all about understanding of customer needs & expectations. Marketing builds the relationship between customer and the seller. 

Marketing Department

The department which is responsible for all activities related to marketing is called marketing depatment. It takes care to sustain strong relations between clients and seller. It interact with market / Customers to explore more business opportunity. Marketing department also coordinate with organization's internal departments to deliver product as per customer requirement.

Roles and Responsibilities

Marketing managers, executives plays an important role to maintain business growth of any organization. There are so many roles & responsibilities of marketing department to sustain business growth but we summarize all in below five major responsibilities which are must to fullfill strong customer relationship :-

  •  Contract Review : Contract review is the first prime responsibility of marketing department. To ensure smooth execution of order recieved from customer, Contract review plays an important role. After receiving order from customer, marketing personnel schedule a customer review meeting with all concerned department who are direct responsible for product realization. In the meeting, all concerned department give confirmation for the smooth execution of product relaization. After getting confirmation from all concerned departments, Order Acceptance has been issued to customer along with delivery date of product.

  • Customer Supplied Property : Customer supplied property refers to any property provided by customer to manufactuerer which helps to manufacture product. Customer supplied property may be any product sample, Component, Equipment, Datasheet, standard etc. This can be returnable or non-returnable. Marketing department is responsible for safe conversation of these property supplied by customer. 

  •  Servicing of Products :  How we deal with customer after selling product, this is very important parameter to gain trust of customer. So to maintain this, Servicing of products is critical responsibility of marketing department. This includes two types of services provided against complaints of customer recieved regarding products i.e Inhouse or Field Site. In house service includes servicing of faulty product at manufactrer's location. Field site includes servicing of faulty product at customer's location.

  •  Customer Satisfaction :  How our product is performing or where we stand in customer database, this is very important to know if any organization wants to improve product quality or to catapult business. So to analyze this factor, Customer satisfaction measurement is very important. There are various methods to measure customer satisfaction but out of them common are  feedback form, through emails, over phone. By analyzing customer feedback, marketing personnel makes further marketing strategies to improve business.   

  •  New Customer :  Market department is responsible to associate more new customers which includes following different activities :-

    1.  Explore market    :  Understand market demand & customer expectations

    2. Interaction with Clients   : Brochures, Catalogues, Events & Trade fair

Skills required

Marketing skills are very important skills as marketing personnels have direct dealing with customers. They are front face of any organization or they represent the organization in front of customer. So, following skills that a marketing manager or executive must have to perform best. 

  1.  Communication Skills  :  Very first skill that a marketing personnel should have is good communication skills. He/she sould have excellent written and verbal communications to interact with existing clients or new clients for business.

  2.  Intelligence in business : To recognize area of new business. He/she should have able to make new business strategies by considering the objective and demand of market or customer. Also can identify the opportunity to growth in existing business.

  3.  Presentation / Branding skills  :  Should have ability to present company product effectively and attractively. Must have proper understanding of business branding, business model. Should have capability to create or maintain customized branding. 

  4.  Project management :  Should have strong project management skills which help to plan, execute and monitor running or new projects so that it can be accomplished effectively on time.

  5.  Leadership  :  Should have good leadership quality so that team members can be managed effectively. 

  6.  Interpersonal skills  :  Should have strong interpersonal skills to interact with cross functional team. Ability to work well in team and create good working environment so that strong relations can be build internally or externally with others.

To impact on customer's interaction, marketing personnel should be knowledge in technical side as well so that most of the queries can be sort out on the spot with any delay.
